Halt chooses Don Cicleto’s technology to digitize bike parking in Canada

Halt, a Canadian company based in Montreal, is a leading provider of cycling infrastructure, offering innovative solutions to municipalities, businesses, schools, and public spaces to improve the cycling environment.

Now, Halt has taken an important step forward by integrating Don Cicleto’s SaaS technology into its infrastructure — a major advancement that enables the digitalization of its bike parking solutions.

The first project is already live: a bike hangar installed at a medical facility, providing healthcare workers with a secure and convenient place to store their bicycles while at work.

Collaborating with Don Cicleto and our partners at Cyclehoop has been a great experience. With its experience in the space, the Don Cicleto team has always been a great partner to get this project up and running.

Digitizing bicycle parking with Don Cicleto’s SaaS

Halt’s new bicycle parking solution, powered by Don Cicleto, uses access control technology as a service (SaaS).

Don Cicleto’s SaaS offers access control as a service through a low-cost, flexible, and technologically advanced solution, helping cycling infrastructure manufacturers digitize and operate their products efficiently.

  • A white-label app, customized for each client, where users can register, view real-time parking availability, make reservations, check their usage history, register their bicycles, and access facilities without physical keys or cards.
  • An administration panel to manage the entire network: register facilities, handle user access, monitor occupancy, process payments and transactions, and oversee usage data — all in one place.
  • A layer of public APIs, enabling integration with third-party systems such as Cabify, Don Cicleto’s first major integration completed in 2021.
  • Compatibility with multiple hardware systems, from industrial computers to IoT devices and Bluetooth controllers, ensuring seamless operation across all parking formats.

A technology that transforms operations and business models

This technology allows companies like Halt to optimize operations, reduce costs, and improve efficiency — all while offering a better experience for end users.

By eliminating the need to manage physical objects such as keys or cards, the system simplifies access management and reduces operational risks. It also provides valuable usage data for better decision-making.

In terms of revenue, the platform enables operators to move from traditional annual subscriptions to more flexible tariff models — such as monthly subscriptions or pay-per-use — helping increase revenue per parking space.

In short, it’s a complete digital transformation — one that enables companies like Halt to scale faster, manage smarter, and deliver better mobility experiences for their users.

This collaboration between Halt, Cyclehoop, and Don Cicleto reinforces our shared commitment to creating smarter, safer, and more connected cycling infrastructure around the world.

From infrastructure to service: why cycling infrastructure must go digital

For decades, cycling infrastructure was defined by hardware. Robust bike racks, secure lockers, protective hangars, and durable shelters set the standard. Reliability and safety were the primary benchmarks of quality. Those attributes remain essential. But today, they are no longer enough. Cycling infrastructure is increasingly expected to function not just as a physical asset, but as a connected service.
